mMBA A2Z / Std / Fast Track 2011
Introduction: mMBA 2011 is designed with new
concepts of rolling batches where a student can enter into a batch at any point
of time with some standard constraints. The structure will have various modules
like previous years with some changes to meet the rolling concept. Read the
following points carefully to understand the new structure:
·
Each session is of 90 minutes duration.
·
Nomenclature of subjects is changed as
follows:
o
“Quantitative Aptitude” previously
known as MA
o
“Verbal Ability” previously known as
VCA
o
“DI and LR” previously known as IRA
o
PD will be same
·
Nomenclature of courseware is also
changed as follows:
o
Reference Books (Previously Concept
Set)
o
ST will be called as Self Section Test
(SST).
o
PST will be called as Class Section
Test (CST).
o
Concepts, Word list, Word Miscellany,
FLT, NATCAT, Builder and Teaser will remain same.
·
The macro structure is similar to
previous year i.e. Thrust module will be followed by Accelerate, Propel,
mSuccess and CCA/CGB module.
·
Each Module is a rolling module i.e.
each module is a set of ‘n’ weeks. Each week will have a certain learning
objective independent to other weeks. Students will be admitted in a module at
the start of any week. After completing n weeks he will be shifted to next
modules. Let’s say a module is having 10 week structure. A student who will
join the module in week 1 will end at week 10, a student joining in week 2 will
study till week 10 and leave the module after week 1, a student who will join
in week 5 will study week 5, week 6 , 7, .. , 10, 1 ,2.. , week 4 and will be
shifted to next module after week 4.
·
PD sessions and SAT will be planned
every alternate Sundays. PD Sessions on I and III and SAT on II and IV Sunday. All
fifth Sundays will be off or kept for session adjustments.
·
PD Sessions will have a standard
structure on all Sundays (Refer following pages for details)
·
SAT will also have a standard structure
on all Sundays. (Refer following pages for details)
·
PCSs will be planned in Thrust, Propel
and mSuccess. The point of PCS will be two months after a student joins Thrust,
after TTT in Propel and after Understanding Interview in mSuccess.
·
Induction modules will be inserted
before some of the modules to handle one/two issues:
o
In the concept of rolling batch if
there is a need to explain some necessary concepts to the students then those
concepts could be covered in induction module.
o
The material which are distributed only
once i.e. not related to sessions like courseware of thrust, accelerate etc. will be delivered in
induction modules
·
Induction module of mMBA will have a
five session structure.
·
Thrust module of mMBA will have a 15
week structure and Accelerate will have 11 week structure.
·
Propel will have four parts as follows:
o
An “Induction IMP” module.
o
A three week rolling module including
CSTs and TTT.
o
A 5 week rolling module including 5 set
of CSTs for further practice in sessions
o
A test series including FLTs, NATCATs,
other TTT and B school sessions etc.
·
Structure of mSuccess, CGA and CGB will be decided later
·
For detailed structure refer rest of
the document and Structures in NERVE.
·
Test series will start from April 2010
and run till Feb 2011. The design of test series will be finalized in last week
of February. CBT/NATCAT will be discussed later.
·
Support to sharp batches will remain
like last year (or may be reconsidered in May)
o
Teasers will be planned for sharp
batches.
o
Builders will be planned for Rest of
the batches

general terminologies
Concepts are session material designed to be
discussed in the session. Every concept will contain 20 to 30 questions based
on certain topics. Concepts Exercise
are designed to give lot of practice of particular variety of question to
students. Challenges are extra set of tougher question
PD sessions: These sessions are conducted on
Sundays. The larger aim is to improve the students on awareness and
communication part.
SAT (Self Assessment Test)
PD sessions: These
tests will be conducted on Sundays to judge the performance of students.
Personal Counseling
Session (PCS): PCS
is aimed to give students inputs on their performance and to handle their
problems related to mMBA. The PCS is conducted thrice in the course i.e in

Identification
of sharper lot of students.
This identification is done by the batch
faculties. This job could be done in a structured way. For this task following
steps should be followed.
Step I :A table should be created in the format
shown below:
S. No.
Reg No.
Name
Discipline
Percentage in
Grads given by Faculty

Grad
12^{th}
10^{th}
MA
IRA
VCA
PD
Veto
Total A+
Total A+ (Out of MA/ IRA/ VCA)

Step II : All the faculty of the batch should
grade every student as A+ / A / B / C. If a faculty feels that some particular
student must be selected to sharper batch He/She can give a veto to that
student i.e. in the veto column faculty should sign. Here HODs must explain the
definition of A+ / A / B / C to the entire team as per the following table:
Grade
Subjective parameter
Objective parameter (%ile in Cat/XAT)
A+
Student is an IIM Material (A+ Grade Institutes)
He Can Score more than 95
A
Student is Competent for A Grade Institutes
He can score in the range of 85 to 95
B
Student is Competent for B Grade Institutes
He can score
in the range of 70 to 85
C
Student is Competent for C Grade Institutes
He can not score more than 70
Step III : Now operations should collect such
sheets from all the batches and select some students for sharper batch.
Selection criteria are as follows:
1.
First
set of student should be made by the students getting 4 A+ and Veto
2.
Then
second set of students should be selected who get 3 A+ in MA, IRA and VCA.
3.
The
third set should be identified with 2 A+ in any of the two out of MA, IRA and
VCA and A+ in PD or 1 or 2 A in rest of the two subjects.
4.
Fourth
and last set could be formed with the students getting 2 A+ in any of the two
areas and 1 or 2 A in rest of the subjects.
Now the batch / Batches should be formed by
keeping in mind the priority in the order of first to fourth set. Now the
decision lies on Academic and operations team of centers about the optimum
number of batches.
